खूप दिवस झाले काहीच लिखाण केलं नाही... (खर तर मी विसरूनच गेलो होतो कि आपला पण एक ब्लॉग आहे)

The movie was OK! Nowhere close to extraordinary..
What I did not Like:
Most of the jokes were "ghise pite" jokes from the engineering days (Like how does an induction motor starts, urban legend about America's "space Pen" vs. Russian Pencil).

What was Predictable:
Seems Rajkumar Hirani has a fixed formula for the movies. There had to be "all is well" equivalent to "Jadu ki zappi/Gandhigiri". There had to be a strict Boman Irani being melted by the good deeds of the hero.

What I liked:
Scene where Boman and Amir both throw keys at Madhavan to fetch the vacuum cleaner
Ladhak scenes, I wish i was there on the platues next to the blue lakes
Kareena on the scooter
Some situations were de ja vu from my Engg days

What's Next:
Life of a medical student -> Life of an engineering student -> Life of an Architect?

मोठ्यांना नवीन पिढी बद्दल जेवढे कुतूहल आहे तेवढीच, किंबहुना त्याहून अधिक तक्रार आहे. आज काल ची पोरं पूर्ण पणे वाया गेली आहेत असे त्यांचे ठाम मत बनले आहे. एवढे मात्र नक्की की दिवसेंदिवस नवीन पिढी नियमांना झुगारून बंडखोर बनत चालली आहे. मोठ्यांबद्दल चा अनादर, नाही नाही ती व्यसने, बेशिस्त वर्तन, आणि बरेच काही..

पण नीट विचार करता एक गोष्ठ लक्षात येईल कि या सगळ्या परिस्थितीला मोठ्यांची पिढीच अंशतः जबाबदार आहे. जर तुम्ही लहानांना नीट मोठं नाही केलंत, त्यांच्यावर चांगले संस्कार नाही केलेत तर हेच होणार! लहान मुले अनुकरणातून बरेच काही शिकतात. जर त्यांच्यासमोर जे काही घडते आहे ते अयोग्य असेल तर ते काय सुधारणार. बापाने सिगारेटी ओढायच्या आणि पोरांना सांगायचं की चार हात दूर राहा नाही तर कानाखाली आवाज काढतो...हे कस चालेल? बरं अयोग्य वर्तनाला कठोर शिक्षा करणे हा काही योग्य उपाय नाही. एका मर्यादे नंतर शिक्षा केल्याने पोरं अजूनच बेरकी आणि निर्लज्ज बनतात. तरी आपल्या काढे काही तरी बरं आहे, पाश्चात्य देशात तर पोराला धड शिक्षा करता येत नाही! तिथली पोरं तर अजूनच बेफिकीरीने वागतात.

थोडक्या सांगायचा मुद्दा असा, की जर आता आपण (यंग जनरेशन) बेफिकिरीने आपल्या पोरांना मोठं केलं तर आपणही १५-२० वर्षांनी हाच डायलॉग मारत असू, "आज काल ची कार्टी, नुसती डोक्यावर चढली आहेत" -

आई कामावर, बाबा कामावर... घरी पोरगं टीवी बघतंय...आणि टीवी वर कोण???? -- राखी सावंत!! आता काय भलं होणार लहान पिढीचं?????

अंदाज अपना अपना मध्ये अमीर खान म्हणतो, "जब तक इस देश के बाप नहीं सुधरेंगे, तब तक उनकी औलादे नहीं सुधारेंगी|"

It has long been told that people’s actions/reactions are influenced by subliminal thoughts. I wanted to test this, so came up with a simple experiment. My hypothesis is that if you ask people a weird question, the response would reflect their current state of mind. So, I asked a goofy question to my colleagues and got some funny answers… Though I can never tell exactly what was going on in their mind at that time, I am leaving it to you to ponder…. :)

THE BIG QUESTION:
What would you get if you mix Sodium Thiosulphate with Barium Nitrate???

AG: Bada sa Explosion!
DC: Electric Shock!
DP: a lot of GAS
HJ: Kuch bhi nahi hoga
PA: Barium Thiosulphate and Sodium Nitrate??
Now I am having fun speculating their state of mind… are you???

Suddenly I realized that I have a tremendous reading backlog. I used to be a voracious reader, at least in the school days. I remember going through books like a hot knife through butter. Clocking speeds close to 40 to 50 pages per hours (Yes, I was weird; I used to measure my reading speed). Most of you might say that’s not impressive enough. But that is not the point. Looking back, I was counting how many books that I have read outside the academia; and the number turns out to be very very low. Even if I had spent half an hour each day reading books, I should have been able to go through 40/2 pages X 365 days X 10 years = 73000 Pages. Assuming 250 pages per book, I should have read nearly about 300 books by now. To clear this backlog, let’s say in the next 10 years, I have to read close to 2 books per month. And I am really trying hard. I have already reduced my TV time by more than half, and I make it a point to carry some book wherever I go.
